For this type of insurance, employers decide on your prescription benefits. Don’t be discouraged if your company’s plan excludes medicines to treat obesity. Submit a request for coverage with the help of your primary healthcare provider.

Medicare Coverage

Unfortunately, Medicare generally does not cover medicines to treat obesity, but there may be some Medigap and Medicare Advantage plans for retirees that do offer coverage. Check with your administrator to see if you have one of these plans.

Medicaid Coverage
